Embroidery for the soul

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Did you know that as well as the many options of printing on to T-shirts, sweatshirts etc that we can also embroider your logo or choice of design onto your garments?! Well you do now.

Most of our clothing can be embroidered (if in doubt, either check on our catalogue or give us a call), so if you’re after an effective finish to your garments that will look both professional and long lasting then why not consider embroidery.

It’s a simple process, after choosing the garments and sending us your artwork, one of our team of technicians will convert your artwork to an embroidery pattern (*one off charges apply) that is compatible with the machinery that stitches the garments and voila! an embroidered version of your design is created and ready for use. You can also combine printing techniques, so if you fancy having your logo on the front embroidered and the individual’s names vinyl printed on the back we can do that for you! The possibilities are endless.

Our customer base has grown dramatically and a great number of our clients (including South West Martial Arts, South Coast Martial Arts, Cardiff Martial Arts, Hawthorn Primary School to name but a few!) have chosen to go for high quality items with effective embroidered re-productions of their logo’s. The response from the finished item has been excellent, so why not try it yourself, you won’t be disappointed.

If you have any queries please contact us.

How do you want your artwork?

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Many of our customers who want their own designs printed onto t-shirts and sweatshirts sometimes aren’t aware of the various design packages there are out there and that they don’t always work well with each other.

Today I thought we’d go through what we need from you, our wonderful customers in order to make yours and our jobs that little bit easier, oh and a little cheaper for you of course.

We generally use “Adobe Illustrator” or “Corel Draw” for design and printing purposes. These software packages use something called vectors to create designs.

Vector based graphics is the use of geometrical objects such as points, lines, curves, and shapes to represent images in computer graphics. The difference between this process and the use of software such as “Adobe Photoshop” and the like is that these software packages use pixel based graphics, which when manipulated can become distorted and “pixelated”. These programs are great for photographs and web based art but unfortunately in a lot of cases, not for detailed printing purposes where we have to literally play around with your designs to make them proportionate to t-shirts and fix certain flaws in the smoothness of a design or when the design needs to be broken down to get the full range of colours featured in your logo or artwork.

Our printing equipment also interprets lines and curves for cutting the vinyl we use or for creating an outline stencil for our screen printing machines. In order for them to work effectively and give you the great finish that you expect, we need the initial artwork to be in a format that we can use with ease.

If you are a designer or the person that designed your logo or image is a designer, they will generally know what this process is and 9 out of 10 times the artwork will be perfect when we receive it (YEY!). Alternatively, if you are one of those regular people whom the very idea of drawing on a computer scares to heck out of you then we can also help you! We have a re-drawing service (fees applicable) where one of our skilled designers will completely replicate your artwork into the correct format for our purposes. Once you are happy with the finished design, not only will we use it for the printing, but we will keep a copy for any repeat orders and provide you with your design just in case you need it in the future. You will most likely find that any type of printing or re-production process will require this format.

Do not be disheartened though, we may still be able to use your Photoshop file that you’ve slaved over every evening this week! send it over and we can take a look, more often than not we can use it or advise you accordingly.

Alternatively if you only want one t-shirt with a design you recently sketched out on a notepad or something you’ve mocked up on an art package and wish to have a t-shirt made for a night out or just to show off your artistic abilities, then have no fear! We can simply print your design using a special heat pressed transfer which will literally be an exact replica of your design, applied to the garment of your choice.

All in all, anything you want, we can do so if you’re not quite sure how to go about getting what you’re after, give us a call or drop us an email and we’ll advise you of the best and most economical way of getting that great finish that you’re looking for!

Getting hitched?

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Spring will shortly be upon us faster than you think. Getting married? Having the obligatory Stag/Hen outing into town or further a field? What’s more fun than having matching t-shirts to tell everyone the reason for your inebriated state or why one of you has a rather unusual hat on your head with a number of items that will not be mentioned on this blog! You know you’re going to do it so why not do it in style!

T-shirts are a great (and cheap!) way of doing this and you are sure to find a huge range of quality t-shirts that are sure to suit any bridezilla or boozy bachelor out there. Whether you want a picture of the bride to be or a dedication to the fact that the girls are on tour in Ibiza, there are plenty of ways to make an impact whatever you may be doing.

We’ve put a few of our our own designs on the website, check them out.

There are som amazing designs around, including many different fonts and letters as well as some exciting and vibrant colours to jazz any t-shirt up to ensure that your night out goes with a bang, and those photo’s that end up on Facebook look that little bit more fun.

The Hoody Versus the T-Shirt

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

En route to the office this morning, I walked past a student wearing a bright yellow hooded sweatshirt with the words “I love my Hoody” emblazoned across the chest in bright blue writing…it got me thinking, which would be better, a t-shirt or a hoody?! Whilst a t-shirt is great for use inside, let’s face it at present our weather isn’t at its best, so what could be better than a sweatshirt that is comfortable, warm but can still have t-shirts worn underneath so if you do get a little bit too warm say indoors, you can just take it off.

Hoodies, like t-shirts are incredibly versatile, they too can be printed on both sides in a variety of ways, vinyl, transfer and screen printing, giving you a great stylish product that is actually useful! Upon observation, hoodies are very trendy at the moment, not just for those sporty people amongst us but for general use, to throw on when popping to the shop, when it’s cold outside and a jacket just isn’t going to be warm enough or for a group day out or holiday. I myself am currently designing my own sweatshirt with a funky design; I’m hoping it’ll keep me warm on my nightly walks with the dog! Brrrr!

Colours of the rainbow

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Lets face it, it’s miserable out there. We’ve had the ice and snow, now we’ve got the rain and floods. Lovely.

So why not perk yourselves up with clothing with a nice bright and cheery message, for those of you off out into this weather to celebrate your union or even to celebrate a day that ends in “y”, give it that extra umph that you’re after and wear something fun.

We have plenty of people contacting us with enquiries about what to have on their stag/hen t-shirts, the one query we ask is “what colour would you like that in?” and the response is usually “I have no idea”…well why not get wild and have some fun, make a statement or just generally shock the living hell out of anyone you come across!

We’ve got the usual colour vinyl in stock, black, white, red, yellow, blue and green but why not go that little further and have a striking fuschia pink, be retro with fuchsia pink, go futuristic with silver or go glam with sparkly silver and pink…bright and vibrant colours that are sure to liven up any type of gear!

Go on, have some fun with colour!

With this T-Shirt I thee wed

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Rather amusing article in the paper this morning, a very romantic and original guy has taken romance and his girlfriend’s love of soppy rom com’s (Romantic Comedy, for those not in the know) to the next leve. If you haven’t seen Love Actually, simple story of best friend in love with best friend’s new wife, Andrew Lincoln of Teachers and This Life fame is in love with Keira Knightley and can’t do anything about it obviously as she’s hitched to his best mate (what a dilemma). To fix this but at least tell her how he feels, he shows up on the door with a set of cards telling her exactly how he feels, very sweet, very mushy.

Dan Ferguson from Cardiff decided to do something rather similar but instead had T-Shirts printed with messages declaring his love for his girlfriend Caroline Thomas, and filmed himself wearing them one after the other, filmed the sequence and burned to a DVD, proceeded to watch it with her and at the end credits took off his jumper to reveal the last t-shirt which read “Will you marry me?”. AWWWW!

So as you can see, not only can we officially say that romance isn’t dead, that Welsh men do have big hearts, but most importantly (obviously for us!) there is yet ANOTHER use for T-shirts in our lives!

Happy New Year!

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Hello all, Happy 2009 to you all, hope you have had a wonderful Christmas and New Year holiday.

I myself have had way too much fun and have full intention on hitting the gym as much as I possibly can! My own T-shirt collection had some additions over the Christmas (well, Boxing Day to be precise!), mainly some great designer gear in the sales, House of Fraser always my first port of call for my fave labels, Diesel, Firetrap, G-Star and Superdry, managed to get a few items for less than half price so was extremely pleased with myself! Although trying them on at home wasn’t quite as much fun upon discovering that I may have put on a bit of weight over the last few weeks, damn those Mince Pies and my mum’s cooking! Great designs, nothing we couldn’t do ourselves here at Reinspire if only we came up with the idea sooner!

Unless you haven’t realised it already, Celebrity Big Brother has begun once again on Channel 4, a random and rather interesting selection of so called celebrities this year, can’t say I’m a huge fan anymore but on occasion I can’t help but monitor the goings on in the house..whilst also noticing more often than not, what is being worn (or NOT WORN! in some cases) by the housemates (surprisingly, checking out what the people on the box are wearing and then copying it is something that everyone is doing?! always handy to see what certain people have in their wardrobes I suppose!, Ben (A1 erm fame) is around my age and style so it may be good to see what he’s clobbering up in, perhaps a few style ideas may be worth “stealing” after all.

The usual rules apply this year, no named t-shirts or labels to be shown so most of the inmates, oops I mean housemates are wearing relatively plain gear on the whole, personally I would have come up with a few ideas myself before going in and printed some t-shirts off to perhaps promote myself and make things a little bit more interesting, couldn’t hurt could it?

Whilst we’re on the subject, what t-shirts are the Celebs wearing at the moment? Flick through any magazine and you will see a range of actors, pop icons or general celeb hangers-on wearing either the latest trends even before the rest of us catch on or humorously sporting a simple yet effective slogan across their chosen style of t-shirt, blatantly trying to blag a headline or swing a bit of gossip in Heat or whatever your poison is, this month.

Americans at the moment are showing support for their newest President by wearing positive and vibrant t-shirts declaring their approval and loyalty, Halle Berry, Madonna and Ryan Phillipe to name but a few.

This isn’t a new idea either, who can forget Madonna wearing an “I love Britney” t-shirt back a few years ago at one of her concerts, encouraging a whole domino effect of Pop princesses declaring their allegiance with each other by wearing glittery T’s saying as much.

More and more high profile faces seem to be a bit bored with wearing the same old labels and looks and are either creating their own designs (yeah right, can just imagine Timblerlake and Beyonce with a heat press and some vinyl) or picking up some individuality in random bespoke stores which sell something a little different. Paris Hilton, recently wore a t-shirt in a rather un-subtle manner, stating that she believes herself to be “Hotter than I should be”, whilst Amy Winehouse decided to mock herself by wearing a simple T that states “REHAB is for quitters”, unsure whether she wore that before she went in or when she came out.

Whatever the case, it seems that there is a rather large niche in the fashion market for a bit of fun and individuality, and if those famous people among us think so, who are we to argue!

I love my T-shirt

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Had the misfortune to have gone Christmas shopping once again last night, hell  on the High Street is a more accurate term for it. Also made the slight error of accidentally leaving one of my carrier bags in a previously visited store, queue to me pegging it down the high street trying to work out which shop I’d left it in. Leaving my friends behind with the rest of the shopping laughing their heads off. Oh the humiliation! Nice kind shop assistant lady had noticed my mistake however and put it to one side for me; you know who you are so thank you!

Unfortunately didn’t get much chance to scout out any interesting prints or new trends so a bit of a quiet blog entry today I’m afraid. It was all aftershaves and lady things (scary).

Very amused by recent addition to my “notes to self” board near my desk this morning, boss has kindly put on my list of things to do; ”sell 1 million t-shirts by 1st Jan 2009”; Now where do I start? Answers on a postcard please. Waiting by the phone.

Lots of retro t-shirts doing the rounds at the moment, as most of you know, Copyright is huge too right now so please don’t try too hard to copy the designs, we unfortunately won’t be able to assist you. I’m sure with a little wandering around the likes of Topman, River Island and Next however, you will find what you are looking for; great range of restro 80’s and 90’s t-shirts available for those students among us and for those such as myself whom unfortunately remember both decades and want a little souvenir of the past. I myself still love my Super Mario T-Shirt circa 1993, still fits if I stop eating for two weeks and don’t move my arms.

On the other hand, if you think you have a fun original design or, if you fancy having a go at creating your own retro feel t-shirt, I say go for it.

Merry Christmas everyone! See you in 2009!

T-Shirts | Why? |Where? | How?

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Got to thinking about T-Shirts (amazing what you can think about randomly whilst wandering around doing your usual routine. I was walking the dog in the cold and rain…lovely!).

When I got in I decided to do a little bit of research! (For those of you who bore easily! Skip to the end!).

Apparently the earliest recorded t-shirt or item of clothing similar was seen around 1919! Shocking I thought! Seriously thought everything fashion related started in the 80’s (yes I’m being sarcastic).

In late twentieth-century American culture T-shirts got their start as a humble item of men’s underwear (GASP) and got its name because when spread flat it formed a stubby letter T. Its little sleeves and round collar distinguished the T-shirt from the standard sleeveless undershirt of the day (otherwise known as old man shirts! You know the type? Some of you may be wearing them now! If so, I apologise profusely for any insult this comment may have caused…(!). The sleeves may also have helped bring the T-shirt out of hiding in the 1930s and 1940s, since they offered a gesture toward modesty as well as a cache for a pack of cigarettes (Tut tut).

Once T-Shirts were on general view, and more and more people started to see them wandering around the city streets and countryside, T-shirts became somewhat like a canvas for images and messages. First came a basic white, then eventually they soon came in all shades; one of the first establishments to find an actual official purpose for them were schools and sports teams, and then every design or slogan imaginable, which obviously we see every day in society today.

Today no public event is complete without its accompanying T-shirt. Cold weather doesn’t slow us down; we just cover the T-shirt with a sweatshirt, a 1925 American invention (see, and I thought I’d invented that look, dammit!)

Though it must have been around at least a year earlier (hence the reference to earlier to 1919), the first official mention of the T-shirt is featured in a book called “This Side of Paradise”, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. In the novel, a wealthy, VERY self-absorbed 15-year-old boy from Middle America heads off to prep school (what is prep school anyway? Does anyone know? Must find out that sometime) in Connecticut with a wardrobe including “six suits summer underwear, six suits winter underwear, one sweater or T shirt(!), one jersey….” in time mention of the garment became very popular for use in writing and media in the fashionable and unpredictable roaring twenties! Obviously these historical (perhaps an exaggeration!) references have faded in time, but the two informal garments we began to wear in those times, the T-shirt and the sweatshirt, hang in our regular vocabulary and attire more prominently than ever before. And as usual, we have the Americans to thank for, well let’s face it, a staple in everyone’s wardrobe, not to mention the reason why I can go Christmas shopping at present! Thank you people!

Right…asleep yet?

7 Sleeps to go. Wonder if Santa wears a t-shirt?!
