Clothing As An Advertising Tool

Friday, June 12th, 2009

An ordinary casual shirt can become a brilliant marketing and advertising tool that can bring great brand awareness if it is worn in the right place. Perhaps your business is participating at an exhibition or wants to do some promotional work in a shopping centre or a supermarket? Maybe you run a club and want to promote a special event? Having custom-designed promotional t-shirts or polo shirts is a great way of keeping a high profile and helping your business to stick in the minds of potential customers.

Spread The Message Wide

Embroidery works extremely well for promotional purposes. Clothing as promotional gifts have become very popular.  Embroidery can be done on cotton, summer tops and shirts as well as polar fleece winter tops. Everybody loves a freebie, and having people wear your company name and other information is essentially having an army of walking adverts. This means that for some time the company gets publicity far and wide as people walk around with the company message embroidered on clothes.

Trade shows and exhibitions are occasions where embroidered items or custom printed t-shirts work incredibly well as an advertising and promotional tool. The saying is that to make money, you have to spend money.

Reinspire can have t-shirts printed specifically for wear by everyone involved with your exhibition at the trade show to make your company employees stand out. Then t-shirts can be printed up to give out as gifts to customers to carry your brand further.

Embroidered or printed clothing can help to raise your business profile, win you some immediate customers and have a long term effect too as people keep wearing your freebies.

T-Shirt of the Week | Part 13

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Week number 13 but by no means any piece of bad luck. I’m going to get straight to the point on this one, it’s fab! The use of intricate objects and symbols joined together to form a larger shape or symbol is a timeless one and it works fantastically on garments, depending on your subject matter.

This item from the guys at Chop Shop have had the Rock inspiration (quite apt with the current fad for Rock Star Games, Pop Idol etc doing the rounds), the fun thing about this t-shirt is that when you look closely each element of the design is a simple silouhette of a person playing an instrument or singing. You can literally sit there and look at it for ages picking out each individual part…well I said you could, didn’t say that you should! But if you actually do have a flare for music and history then you will also notice that the figures themselves are musical icons from across the decades!

So not only would you be wearing a great t-shirt with an eye catching design but you’re also wearing a little bit of history! Available in plenty of manly colours, this t-shirt is a wicked addition to any budding rocker’s wardrobe!

Monday pondering

Monday, June 8th, 2009

The weather is at a low peak, it’s Monday and I’m already waiting for payday! Yes it’s that Monday feeling!

A great weekend of shopping and clubbing has just passed once again. Having scoured the stores for a t-shirt for a spur of the moment night out. Not as easy as you may think though readers, not when your friends are complete shopaholics and are more than likely to either already own the t-shirt that you have decided upon or (oh the shame) are wearing the same one that night. Luckily for me I was shopping with said friends in the day so had the opportunity to ensure that such mishaps of fashion wouldn’t occur. To this day I can clearly remember the time I entered a bar once and my feeling of smugness over my wonderful new purchase earlier in the week was all for nothing when 4 guys (yes 4!) all were there in the same item; queue to me running back home to change!

Back to this weekend and I had the dilemma…I’d already narrowed my choices down to two t-shirts, one from G-Star and the other from Diesel; both my favourite labels, both with a hint of pink, both looked great on me for a change having already hoped that would be the deciding factor. None of my friends had already bought either (in fact there was s distinct hint of jealousy when they realised that they couldn’t call dibs on either!) and neither my friends, passers by or even the very helpful girl on the shop floor could decide which one was the best. After 15 to 30 minutes deliberation, it all came down to the cold hard cash, my friends being shopaholics have their advantages, one being a VIP shopper and having a discount card! And unfortunately the discount didn’t go on G-Star clobber so the Diesel tee won out after all. And looking back over Saturday’s shenanigans, I’m glad I went with it after hearing all the compliments that were well received during the course of the evening…well I vaguely remember them anyway! Sure a number of pictures will appear on a very well known social networking site in the days to come…I await with anxiety!

Whilst out and about in the various bars it was a simple case of people watching for me, seeing what they were wearing (or not wearing in some cases!). In true me style and that of my friends, there was no respect for the weather in that none of us a) worse a jacket or b) had an umbrella; so anyone out on Saturday would have seen us jumping in and out of cabs as we hilariously cab hopped to each pub and club…expensive but worth every penny! Couldn’t get the t-shirt wet could we!?! Saw a few of my own creations in town too, a lovely sight for a t-shirt printer to see his babies being worn and enjoyed! Though it may not have been in good form to drunkenly point the fact out by pointing at said ladies from across the bar! For that girls I apologise.

In the mix of trendy wear, silly wear and down right weird wear there were a lot of fashion fatalities and trend setters, but all in all everyone seemed happy in their decision of what to wear on the town on a rainy Saturday night; and that my dear readers is the main emphasis of my ranting today, that despite my pomp and splendour, it isn’t about the labels, the materials, the colours or the design; it’s how you feel when wearing it. If a t-shirt can make you feel a million dollars, then what’s wrong with that?

T-Shirt of the Week | Part 12

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

This week’s nominations (yes, more than one!) are apt ones. The sun is out so it’s fair to say that us sun worshippers are up for some summer fun in the brightest and coolest garb.

For the girls we have a nice little number from the gang at Republic. The Crafted “Pop” T-shirt is just that, poptastic, neon multicoloured lip designs repeated in the guise of Andy Warhol. Perfect with a faded jeans or hot pants (for those brave enough and tanned enough of course!). Uniquely printed on the front and back it has the edge to be a firm staple in the wardrobe for a day chilling in town or a night our with the ladies for a few cocktails. Pop perfection!

For the lads it’s all about the basic colours and the prints. This (my personal favourite label) Superdry number has both, a fantastic bright and edgy Sapphire blue partnered with a retro feel motif circa racing driving american style. The quality and price are what you would expect from this exclusive and very sought after brand, partnered again with the faded jeans, boardies or combat shorts, this little number will get the eyes turning as you walk down piazza. Eating out in style or chilling out siesta style. Chilled to perfection.

T-Shirt Sweatshirt of the Week | Part 11

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

This week’s nomination is something of an acquired taste, not only is it not a T-shirt (I like to mix things up!) but it’s a little bit different from the standard type of thing that people go for. There are no slogans, no messages, no cutesy characters, no amusing anecdotes…quite simply this is a piece of art! Brought to you by the people at Fullbleed (don’t let the name fool you, they’re lovely!), this sweatshirt entitled “In Full Swing” has a one colour image of people literally swinging on clouds…aw how lovely. A nice and friendly print that is quite simply “nice”, no need for gimmicks or in your face neon colours, just a great unique print and gives you a feeling of chilling on a swing in the clouds…okay perhaps a bit far fetched but you get my drift. Put together with trendy and affordable garments and you’ve got yourself a nice (there’s that word again) little gift for yourself or someone you love.

With the nice weather coming soon, it’s nice to see something fun, friendly and relaxed for a change. How about some nice things eh, the world doesn’t always have to be harsh and in your face.

What say thee?

Y-Neck | V-Neck or Vests | Oh My

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Please accept this humble blogger’s most humble apologies for the lack of updates this week, I’m afraid to say that Tee Boy has been extremely busy producing wonderful and exciting products for you very lucky people!

Had a quick 15 minute break in the middle of a very busy day so thought I’d have a quick gander around the internet and the fashion world in general and see what’s on offer and what fun things are worth discovering.

My favourite T-Shirt buys recently have been the retrospective Y-Neck Tees that according to most High Street stores are now a staple or “essential”, whilst loving the comparison of fashion with such things as air, water and food, the staples and essentials of life, I have to agree. It really is a necessity to have a selection (be it small or large, or in my case humongous!) of basic items that you can throw on (or off!) at any time, that go nicely with every ensemble and aren’t too formal, flashy or event/occasion specific. Going to the shops? Why wear your fave Diesel t-shirt, walking the dog or just heading home from the gym? Why wear those jeans that you’re afraid to wear out because they cost too much and are your “going out jeans”. All in all it’s great to have those simple and cheap items that can either be partnered with other things to create a great outfit for a casual evening or for just general wear and tear without you wearing and tearing your posh clobber and your wallet! Y-Neck tees have hit the high street with a bang, coming in a range of great bright colours. The bit I love (apart from the 3 for £15 or 2 for a tenner deals that are currently everywhere you look) is the nice little extras that are being done to these garments, the trims of the arms and necks are now being made into different colours, either a different shade of the same colour as the tee, or insane neon colours on each arm, they’re pretty great and put with jeans or shorts, you’ll have no need of much else to make you hot this summer.

Vests have also done a complete U-turn it seems are are now a very popular street garment for those of us brave enough and buff enough (emphasis on the buffness, cos I for one wouldn’t be wearing one without the aid of the much covetet pectorals!). Coming in the usual variety of colours and styles it looks like the summer of 2009 will be one off more flesh the better. Tee Boy is running to the gym after typing this….

T-Shirt of the Week | Part 8

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Hi peeps, unfortunately (or fortunately, whichever way you look at it I suppose!) we’ve been pretty busy in the office so I’ve been neglecting my blog duties (I know tut tut, but we can’t all print t-shirts, answer the phone, write emails AND create fantastic in depth and interesting blog articles can we?!).

On this lovely Friday afternoon I just have 5 minutes while the printer works its magic to regale you all with my findings in the world of T-shirt designing and printing. My favourite this week comes from America as usual (those imaginative cousins of ours), from a company called Glenz, they’re philosophy seems to be that they aren’t content with producing run of the mill retro and current well known images, but they would rather put their own little comedic spin on something that perhaps even though cute or popular, is rather dull. So hats off to you guys across the atlantic, you’ve got a sense of style and most importantly a sense of humour. Amongst the gems are the Darth Vader buffing his helmet, Nemo being custard pie’d by another “Clown fish”, a very famous fast food clown appearing in a rather whimsically ironic coffin come burger box; and finally my favourite simply titled “Mushroom Soup”, a rather innocent dish design with what appears to be a floating Smurf corpse, yes perhaps a little macabre but I like it (yes I am slightly twisted). Come on, enough of the sweet, cutesy Mr Men designs, enough with the pinks and the pastels, lets have some fun and show our dark sides, and then wear them proudly to show the world and influence the next generation to see things that little bit more realistically!

The Monday Update | On a Tuesday

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Happy belated Easter to you all. I trust that you had a nice long fun filled weekend, I know I did, the sun was out, four whole blissful days to enjoy it. What could be better.

I picked up a few titbits of style information over those 4 days whilst perusing the high street and the internet for bargains.

Firstly, the dreaded 80’s has more to answer for this season as once again we are being told to delve into or wardrobes and dust off those denim jackets because yes people they have returned. It’s all about distressed, faded worn in denim this time so if you’ve got it, use it or if not, then I’m sure they’ll be appearing in a store near you very soon, already ripped, scagged, torn and bleached within an inch of it’s life for you to wear and enjoy. The likes of Nicole Richie and Miquiter Oliver of T4 Fame are already showing theirs off.

Sunglasses, a big yes over the weekend as the rays came out and the sunnies went on. The big frames are back once again this year, the likes of Katy Perry and Paris Hilton having done their bit for consumerism by telling the ladies that 50s glamour is back, meaning dark huge frames are a must have for that chic and sophisticated look. For the lads, the aviators are definitely here to stay or for those of you with a hankering for something a bit more practical, stylish and that little bit more pricey then Ray Bans in the true eighties style are a big yes and the Oakley’s for those more sporty people of amongst us are never going to go out of style.

I was happy to notice that checked short sleeve shirts are being worn again so all those I bought last year in the vain hope of a summer and a holiday were not in vein so out they come again casually worn open over a t-shirt or (for those of us brave enough of buff enough) open with nothing underneath to expose those coveted six pack abs. I’m working on it believe me!

Polo shirts are definitely back with a bang, both for the girls and the lads, bright colours, stripes and distressed collars are all a factor.

The new or old depending on which way you look at it style of Y neck t-shirts with different colour neck and sleeves is definitely one to watch and embrace at the moment, the brighter colours the better and the bigger the pecs the better so it seems

One of my favourite style websites Yoox has recently announced their intention to release a environmentally friendly range of clothing including slogan t-shirts, expect some simple yet fun and trendy designs to explode onto the fashion scene later this month, although saving up may be an option because those guys don’t believe in budget buying even during a recession!

All in all, summer is a coming so get the jumpers off, get your t-shirts and sunnies on and let the festivals and BBQ’s begin.

Here come the girls

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

It dawned on me this morning that I may perhaps be neglecting the female of the species in that I haven’t really looked at girls clothing recently. Probably a good thing as me wandering around New Look or Top Shop picking up strappy tops and denim shorts may raise a few eyebrows and most certainly will get me escorted off site, and I do have a reputation to uphold (at least I think I do!).

Well I’m here to rectify this by doing a bit of research into what you girls want. The sun is starting to come out which means the layers are coming off, which means you want trendy t-shirts, tight fitting for those of you who want to show of your curves or lack of them. Colours are essential and so are edgy contemporary designs. Slogans are a must as it seems messages are cool at the moment. Retro as always is a big yes so we’re looking at cartoons, TV programmes, The Hof (!) and so on and so forth. With this in mind I’ve found a fab site that incorporates all of these essential things.

Thinkgeek seem to have hit the nail on the head with the use of excellent quality lady fit t-shirts, combined with fun simple designs that suit all tastes. I particularly love the glittery effect of some of the designs, something that you don’t often see in the high street, giving the designs a little bit more umph. I love the Wizard of Oz inspired red shoes design that’s says simply “there’s no place like” with an American postcode, bringing the famous slogan and Ruby Slippers into the next generation with an almighty bang! Love it!

I love “Futurama” and in particular Bender, the ever un-politically incorrect farting and drinking robot, so you can imagine my delight when I located a t-shirt on this site featured the one and only Bender, complete with a star filled sky backdrop. Truly a lovely t-shirt that most girls would grab without a thought…it makes you want to be a girl sometimes it really does!

All in all though, this goes to show that there is more to the printing, fashion, t-shirt, clothing type world than boy’s things, so I make this promise to the double X chromosomes amongst us, I will endeavour to find and divulge my findings for your tastes too!

Babies are trendy

Monday, April 6th, 2009

It has occurred to me whilst thinking about kids clothing, that all bets are now off. No longer do the girls have to wear pink, the boys in blue, cutesy animal pictures and teddy bear logos on the front, delicate and un-noticeable. Now, kids can be edgy, funny, trendy and dare I say it…risqué!

On the scout for the ultimate in trendy, funky baby clothing I recently came across a label called Nappyhead. Their designs range from the traditional simple pastels to bright, bold and just that little bit naughty. There’s something there for the yummy mummy, the traditional mum or the quite ridiculously outrageous mum. Furthermore there’s something there for the dads too, t-shirts with slogans matching those of the children, great fun to wear at a party or fun get together.

One design that has caught my eye is the Pac Man eighties inspired t-shirt, incorporating the baby milk bottles with the infamous Pacman yellow guy logo; this is not only cute but fun and rather contemporary for a child’s t-shirt, pure genius. Available in black and funky pink, any toddler I’m sure would very proud to wear (although obviously at such a young age they may not quite have much choice in what they’re parents dress them in, poor defenceless kids!).
